With the FT-847 sending at 4800, it kind of works but not good enough. With the FT-847 sending at 57600, it doesn't work at all. I've tested my implementation with Ham Radio Deluxe and can control the radio and report back frequency and mode once HRD has set them once, I also tested WSJT-X which uses Hamlib as its' radio interlace with mixed results. You either have limited computer control and no panel control or no computer control and full panel access. Additionally when the 736 is in CAT mode, the front panel is locked. Unfortuately, the 736 does not return frequency and mode so, I fake it by storing what the controlling program (HRD etc) sends and just return it when requested. So far, I have re-implemented the concept used in the past and take in FT-847 CAT commands and translate them to what the 736 wants to see. As most of you are aware, the Yaesu CAT implementation on the rig is very limited and limiting. Nice to know that there are other people out there that are still actively using the 736.
